Code selection

This window enables you to select only those codes (courses or components) in the next operation you are going to perform. Instead of all, you may prefer to include only a selected set of components in your report, or you want to pick only courses of a certain type that you want to print, copy onto the Clipboard or store into another file.

You can also select or deselect a whole category of codes by selecting the appropriate categories from the box on top right.

Techniques for selection items from the list box

  • If you want to select or deselect a single item from the list, click the left mouse button
  • If you want select all items of a selected category, select this category in the box below Categories:

Buttons

All selects all categories and all codes. By default, all codes have been selected.

Clear clears all selections. If you like to select codes only by Links, it is advisable to first clear all current selections.

Invert reverses all current selections. This enables you to split the code selections into two disjoint sets. In some cases it is easier to first define those codes that should not be included and then reverse the selection.

Links selects the codes by links to selected courses or components. If the criteria is to select courses, it might be easier to select them which contain specific components (such as classes). In this case, when you have selected Links, a new window is displayed where you can pick the components having the desired courses. The selected courses will be then be added to the current selection, and the technique works in similar manner in the case then components are selected via their course links.

Mask selects codes that match a given code mask by using ‘?’ as wildcard (for example, M?ri??? picks Maria and Marilyn, but not Mary).

Info displays more information of the currently selected course or component.

Fields displays either full length names or truncated names and lectures of the codes.

If you have selected courses and you have locked at least one course, you have also the option to include in the selection either Locked, Unlocked or All courses. This option overrides all other previous selections.
